What a Public Adjuster Does

A public adjuster works exclusively for you, the policyholder — not the insurance company. We inspect the damage, document the loss, and handle the estimating and negotiation so your claim is settled for what repairs actually cost.

Depending on where your claim stands, that representation can take a few different forms. Below are the three services we provide most often.

Service 01

Supplement Estimate

Insurance company estimates are often written to the adjuster's initial inspection, and they don't always reflect the full scope of covered damage or current repair costs.

We inspect the property, measure and document the damage, and prepare a supplemental estimate that accounts for everything the original estimate missed.

That supplement is submitted to the carrier along with supporting photos and cost documentation, and we negotiate directly with the insurance company to bring the settlement in line with the actual cost of repair.

Service 02

Appraisal

Most homeowner policies include an appraisal clause for exactly this situation: coverage isn't in question, but the dollar amount of the loss is disputed.

Each side selects a competent, disinterested appraiser to independently inspect the property and prepare an estimate of the loss.

We serve as your appraiser, building a well-documented estimate and representing your interests through the appraisal process so the amount of loss reflects the real cost of repair.

Service 03

Umpire

When the policyholder's appraiser and the carrier's appraiser reach an impasse, the two appraisers select (or a court appoints) a neutral umpire.

The umpire reviews both estimates and the supporting documentation, then issues a decision on the amount of loss.

That decision becomes binding once any two of the three — the two appraisers and the umpire — agree, giving both sides a defined path to resolution.
